The electronic bill of lading and electronic title are received by the shipper’s trade application – hosted by an ASP in this example. The trade application directs the bill of lading and electronic title to e-titleTM for processing.

e-title^TM validates the signature on the electronic title to confirm that it is authentic and that the bill of lading has not been altered. The electronic title is then registered in the HSM giving the shipper the right to transfer it to a new party, such as the bank or the importer.
